EMA Climate Action Spotlight: The Greenify Project

Who says one person can't make a difference? Less than six months ago, Lucy Clarke launched The Greenify Project from her bedroom in the UK. Clarke is an authentic content creator who focuses on promoting sustainable and conscious choices. She serves as a leading example for media companies committed to making a positive impact.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Lucy about her project and how young people can play a significant role in combating climate change.

What excites you? What are you passionate about?

At 21 years old, I began my journey in the UK. My background involved working closely with animals and completing a biodiversity management course. This work included hands-on experience with dogs, training them to thrive in their environments. Despite gaining admission to Oxford for acting, I didn't feel aligned with the path. Thus, I dedicated a year to intentional exploration.

During this time, I delved into the media and its intersection with environmental issues, which is why EMA's work jumped out to me. Though I'm still in the early stages, it's been about five to six months of immersive learning. What excites me? What fuels my passion? At its core, it all started with my deep love for animals and understanding their habitats. From there, my interests branched out into zero-waste living. I find projects that incorporate sustainability practices fascinating.

What is The Greenify project? How did it start?

I'm passionate about sustainable brands and creating content promoting eco-friendly practices! Greenify's goal is to maximize our positive impact on the planet. I worked as a social media manager, gaining experience in social media management. However, I preferred to avoid the rapid turnover of trends. Instead, I wanted to focus on discovering sustainable brands. I realized that simply promoting products for people to buy could have been more fulfilling for me in the long term. For this reason, crafting stories and engaging in projects through media pages and content creation draws me into the environmental movement.

Where do you hope to see Greenify in five years? What goals do you have?

I aspire to cultivate an engaged audience deeply interested in environmental issues. I aim to grow a larger following, where people are eager to share the content and feel inspired to take similar actions. I encourage others to prioritize an environmental perspective in all aspects of their lives. This commitment is full-time for me as I work towards establishing a solid foundation for this endeavor. I approach each day with dedication, focusing on developing content plans for the week ahead.

What advice do you have for young green entrepreneurs?

I suggest exploring opportunities for internships or courses wherever available. My passion for wildlife conservation guided me down this path. It is crucial to embrace mistakes as a natural part of the learning process and seek to absorb as much knowledge as possible along the way. One pivotal learning experience was the 'Behind the Greens' course, where I gained valuable insights into these interconnected topics. The 'Behind the Greens' course proved to be incredibly beneficial.
