The Environmental Media Association (EMA) is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization funded by individual contributions, private donations, charitable events and event sponsorships.

Individual donations make up approximately 25% of EMA’s annual revenue and include online contributions, charitable events, recurring donations and private gifts.

Approximately two-thirds of EMA’s funding is from corporate partners that are leaders advancing industry change. These grants support EMA’s programs, summits, awards, outreach, education, advocacy work and other programs.

The remainder of annual revenue is raised through licensing and consulting fees associated with our EMA Green Seal® program, in-kind (non-monetary) donations and EMA’s programs.

EMA provides powerful returns on each philanthropic dollar. Each year we reach hundreds of millions of people through our social media channels, events and billions in media coverage.

We inform, inspire and propel the market towards meaningful action, safer and cleaner products and smarter business practices. Through our massive consumer reach and business partnerships, EMA inspires consumer behavior change, corporate responsibility and new product acceptance.
