Hollywood’s greenest celebrities supported the Environmental Media Association and honorees Shailene Woodley, Jaden Smith, and Moby at the 26th Annual EMA Awards held at the Warner Bros. Studios Lot in Burbank last month (October 23).

Celebrities often use their fame to bring attention to issues that matter to them, and on October 23 the Environmental Media Association Awards brought the spotlight back to the stars—specifically those who champion solutions to environmental issues. 

Last Saturday night my good friend Laura Turner Seydel, a woman who I greatly admire for her work in the environment, invited me to attend the Environmental Media Awards. This is an annual event that Greenopia has sponsored in the past and honors members of the entertainment industry who are working to make environmentalism the new norm. But instead of saying no, I listened to my intuition that kept telling me I needed to be there and headed down to LA.

The 26th Annual Environmental Media Awards were hosted this past Saturday, October 22 from Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California.

Environmentalists in different forms of media were brought together to help raise awareness for the causes they support.

The Environmental Media Association (EMA) held its 26th annual awards on the Warner Bros. back lot on Saturday. GMOs and electric vehicles were among the talking points, but the big topic of the night was EMA honoree Shailene Woodley’s warrior spirit and her Oct. 10 arrest in North Dakota for “peacefully protesting,” she said, against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

On Sunday the whole clan descended upon the red carpet at the Environmental Media Awards and possibly stole the title of Best-Dressed Family in America in the process.

The 2016 Environmental Media Association Awards has added another big name to its list of attendees: Nicole Richie! But that's not all. The fashion designer will actually host the big night in Hollywood as stars celebrate their efforts in protecting and preserving the environment and promoting go-green projects.

On Saturday, October 22, Toyota and Lexus will celebrate 16 years of partnership with EMA at the 26th annual Environmental Media Awards at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif.  The award ceremony honors film and television productions that communicate environmental messages in creative and influential ways. This year’s honorees include Jaden Smith, Shailene Woodley, Moby, Robyn O’Brien, and United Nations PRI as corporate responsibility award winner.  

Only days after being arrested for trespassing while protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline, Shailene Woodley is set to be honoured for her trailblazing commitment to the environment.
