EMA’s Green Streaming Guide for June 2023

As we dive into the summer season, EMA has curated a list of environmentally conscious streaming options that will entertain you and inspire and educate you. From thought-provoking documentaries to sustainably produced films, we designed this list to help you make streaming choices that support sustainable filmmaking and environmental stories! So, let’s get to it. 


“Shooting Stars”

LeBron James has established himself as an unparalleled force in the NBA for over two decades, captivating audiences with his extraordinary skills on the court and impactful advocacy beyond basketball. This film, “Shooting Stars,” explores the intricacies of James’ extraordinary journey, tracing his humble beginnings in Akron, Ohio, and documenting his remarkable rise to becoming a basketball superstar in the NBA. In addition, it seeks to chronicle the various stages of his ascent, offering a comprehensive account of his path to superstardom and, as a result, granting fans an intimate and profound glimpse into the life of an incredibly influential sporting icon of our era.

This biopic received our EMA Gold Seal for sustainable production practices. Sara Griffin took charge of organizing the removal of various items, ranging from water bottles to plywood and even leftover food. Additionally, Griffin took it upon herself to encourage those operating vehicles to reduce unnecessary idling while urging the food staff to consider sustainable menu design options.


Tour de France: Unchained (Season 1)

Coming to Netflix, June 7th

The thrilling men’s bicycle race, “Tour De France: Unchained,” focuses on closely following the riders and team managers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the race’s multifaceted stakes. This captivating documentary takes viewers behind the scenes, providing a glimpse into the inner workings of the Tour’s teams, capturing everything from the meticulous preparation phase to the exhilarating finish line in Paris.

In addition to the tangible and positive impact of Riding into the Future, the Tour de France has consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment over the past decade to fostering a more environmentally responsible organization.


“Our Planet II”

Introducing “Our Planet II,” a captivating four-part series exclusively on Netflix, beautifully narrated by the esteemed David Attenborough. This remarkable production embarks on a journey to unravel the mysteries surrounding the complex phenomenon of animal migration. The series delves into the extraordinary narratives that unfold as countless billions of creatures traverse the planet. 

Spanning across continents from Africa and India to China and the Arctic, “Our Planet II” showcases an extensive collection of footage capturing mesmerizing migrations occurring in various corners of the globe. Earth documentaries are crucial in educating and raising awareness about our planet. Driven by a passion to combat climate change, Downey’s mission is to enhance these vehicles’ speed, efficiency, and power while preserving their intrinsic character. Downey takes his six vintage rides and skillfully equips them with state-of-the-art green technology, transforming them into cutting-edge examples of sustainable transport.
